Silver Laurel Award for Bird-Friendly Gardening!

BIG NEWS! I’m absolutely thrilled to share that my book, Bird-Friendly Gardening, has been awarded a Silver Laurel Media Award in the General Readership category by GardenComm: Garden Communicators International!

This recognition means the world to me. The GardenComm Media Awards are a respected honor in the garden media industry, judged by a panel of seasoned professionals who know and care deeply about great garden writing and education.

Bird-Friendly Gardening was a true passion project. I wrote it with the goal of helping both gardeners and bird lovers create welcoming, habitat-rich spaces for birds — no matter the size of their garden, balcony or backyard. Our private landscapes have so much potential to be thriving ecological havens. By incorporating native plants and thoughtful design, we can provide the essentials that birds need: food, water, shelter and nesting materials.

Bird populations are facing real challenges, and I believe every yard, every patio, every planter can make a difference. It’s my greatest hope that this book continues to be a helpful, inspiring resource for anyone looking to support birdlife through gardening.

A huge thank-you to Cool Springs Press/Quarto Knows for publishing the book and to GardenComm for this incredible honor!

If you’ve read the book — or gifted it to a fellow bird-lover — thank you! Your support helps keep this important conversation going.
